Temperature

Temperatures were above normal in almost all states. The highest temperatures reached 10°F to 15°F above normal in central and southern Kansas. The lowest temperatures reached 20°F to 25°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.

Temperatures in central and southern Kansas, a small area in southcentral Colorado, and scattered parts of southwestern North Dakota reached 10°F to 15°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 97°F in Wichita, Kansas, which is 11°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures reached greater than 25°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.

Temperatures in southeastern Wyoming reached 8°F to 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 43°F in Casper, Wyoming, which is 2°F below normal for the area, and in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 4°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures reached greater than 10°F above normal in a small part of central Colorado, southcentral Nebraska, and throughout Kansas.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in western Kansas, western and northeastern Colorado, western Nebraska, across central and northern Wyoming, western and northeastern South Dakota, and across central and southern North Dakota, to more than 800 percent of normal in southeastern Colorado, and a small area in western Kansas. Humboldt, Kansas received 7.06 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 10th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 90 percent to 93 percent. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 19 percent while North Dakota experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 5 percent.
